The world premiere of Wojtek Wawszczyk’s Diplodocus is fast approaching. It’s the first Polish family film made on such a scale. It tells a story of the amazing adventures of Diplodocus that wishes for his life to be more colorful. The movie is inspired by Tadeusz Baranowski’s cult classic comics. It features the appearances by Piotr Polak and Helena Englert and the voices of Borys Szyc, Małgorzata Kożuchowska, Arkadiusz Jakubik i Mikołaj Wachowski. Today, we present its official movie poster.

After four teaser posters with main characters, that – to be honest – were rather modest, I wanted to make a poster that showed the richness of the worlds and one that reflects the intensity and the dynamism of the movie. I prepared a couple of sketches that showed the characters in different situations. My favorite amongst them was a project with the core four characters that were “falling” onto the viewer, passing through different worlds, one by one, like through the pages of a comic book. To my joy, the director, producers and the distributor had unanimously chosen that exact option

– says Tomasz Leśniak, the author of the poster and the art director and set designer of Diplodocus.

The road from the sketch to the final product was long and complicated. The whole process lasted about two months. For me, this poster is the conclusion of over 12 years of working on that movie. It’s like the cherry on top since I treated this project very personally

– he adds.

A wild adventure with an ensemble cast

The main characters, as seen on the poster, are: the titular Diplodocus, a clumsy wizard Hocus Pocus, a twisted scientist Professor Nervekowsky and a clever pilot Entomology. They’re voice respectively by: Mikołaj Wachowski, Borys Szyc, Arkadiusz Jakubik, and Małgorzata Kożuchowska. It’s been a long time since there was an animated movie with such a famous cast.

Diplodocus hits the Polish cinemas this year, on October 4th.

Tadeusz Baranowski’s comic books, next to "Kajko and Kokosz," were my favorite during my adolescent years and that is why I’m glad to have a chance to be a part of "Diplodocus." It was like a return to my childhood. Wojtek Wawszczyk had solidly prepared me to play the role of Hocus Pocus. We watched the whole movie together, talking about what my character was doing and feeling in each scene. It was a beautiful, moving experience

– says Borys Szyc.

This story is totally bonkers. It’s presented in an attractive and rich visual form – it’s colorful and dynamic. It all works on the viewer in a way that speaks to their basic, most primal emotions

– explains Małgorzata Kożuchowska.
